Vacuum Pressure

Pressure Ranges

The  S.I. unit for pressure is the pascal (Pa). In vacuum applications, pressure is commonly given in mbar, Torr or psi. Vacuum pressures are often referred to in ranges, which are defined in Table 1. Conversion between units:


  • 1 mbar = 1×10⁻³ bar = 1 hPa = 100 Pa
  • 1 mbar = 0.75 Torr
  • 1 mbar = 1.45×10⁻² psi
  • 1 mbar =  9.87×10⁻⁴ atm
